How bedbug infestation affects the human body and mind?

Bed bugs are the insects that are very tiny resemble a pear seed in appearance with no wings. They are also known as the bloodsuckers as after feeding on blood they become expanded and turn dark red. The bed bugs lay eggs which are unable to see by our naked eyes as the size of the egg is like a pinhead which is present in crack and crevices of furniture, mattresses, clothing behind baseboards and in chairs.etc. Bed bugs have a one-year lifespan during which time females can lay up to 200-400 eggs. Eggs hatch in about 10 days and they are the 1/4th inch long.

The speed of bed bugs is very quick that they can climb on anything and usually they feed at night and hide during the day. Bed bugs usually feed once a week but can survive for up to 14 months without eating.

Bites aren’t usually felt since the insect injects an anesthetic that is mixed with their saliva. Individual response to bites varies, and some people do not react at all. Bites usually appear as small, raised, red lesions.

They may cause itching and scratching which could lead to infection. There is no concrete scientific evidence that they carry blood-borne diseases such as Hepatitis B or C, or HIV.

What other health problems can occur:

  • Respiratory problem:
They often shed their skin and leave behind egg particles and other waste, which can mix with the air. When these inhaled, they can interfere with the respiratory system of a person and result in respiratory problems.
  • Infection problem:
When the bed bug bites which not only cause discomfort but also lead to itching and constantly scratching will cause wounds as well as the skin infection.
  • Allergic reaction:
Hypersensitivity to the bites could lead to anaphylactic shock, which is both dangerous and life-threatening.
  • Weakened Immune System:
Bed bugs bites are itchy and so the person could not be able to sleep properly due to which it affects the immune system.

Holidaymakers attacked by BEDBUGS left ‘mentally scarred’ after infestation at four-star hotel ruins £2,000 trip
Jenny Kirkham from Mirror

A British couple says they were left traumatized after they were bitten by bedbugs during their Spanish getaway.

Sue and John Berry claim to have suffered dozens of bites all over their bodies at a four-star hotel just three days into their two-week, £2,000 holiday.

The retirees are now so fearful of the parasitic insects that they haven’t been on holiday since then.

And they claim that they have been “passed from pillar to post“ after complaining to the tour operator who sold them the trip.

Sue told the Liverpool Echo that she and her husband were left “mentally scarred” and embarrassed as strangers stared at their bites.

Horrified mother finds BED BUGS in the daughter’s hospital ward after the near-fatal asthma attack
By MARY KEKATOS FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

Erin Ortega says she found bed bugs in her daughter’s hospital room at Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa, Arizona, on Monday night

After alerting hospital workers, the family was moved to another room

But Ortega says that in the second room she found two more bed bugs

Bed bugs do not carry disease, but their bites can cause discomfort and they are difficult to eradicate

A mother says she found bed bugs in her daughter’s hospital room in Arizona.

Erin Ortega and her wife had been switching on and off spending nights with their daughter in the ICU at Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa after she suffered a near-fatal asthma attack.

It’s unclear how long she has been in the hospital or how long she will remain there because the severity of asthma attacks can vastly differ from patient to patient.

On Monday night, while preparing for bed, Ortega told Fox 10 that they noticed a bed bug on the sheets the hospital provided.

After switching rooms, they were horrified to discover that the bed bugs were lurking in several rooms in the hospital.

Ortega says she alerted hospital workers to the bed bug discovering.

The family was then moved to another room but was told it was for ‘staffing reasons’, although it was never fully explained what this meant.

The couple decided to check the room to see if there were any more of the insects.

‘Sure enough, there was another bed bug on the floor behind the recliner, as well as a dead one that was stuck to the chair,’ Ortega told Fox 10.

The couple says they’re worried about their daughter’s well-being as well as of other patients on the ICU floor.

Pesticides have detrimental effects on human health and cause harmful diseases so instead of using outdated control measures we can make use of our product, our product Combirepel™ manufactured by C Tech Corporation is an anti-insect aversive which repels insects.

Combirepel™ works on the mechanism of repellency. It temporarily inhibits the mating cycle of the insects. The product impairs the ability of the insects to reproduce, that is the insects will not lay eggs or the laid eggs will be infertile. The product causes feeding disruption in an insect by triggering an unpleasant reaction within the insect which might try to feed on the application.

The product temporarily blocks the reproduction system of the insects by hindering the release of the vital hormones for growth.

Combirepel™ is an extremely low concern, low toxic, nonhazardous, non-carcinogenic and non-mutagenic insect aversive. It does not kill or cause harm to insects as well as to the environment which indirectly helps to maintain the ecological balance.

Combirepel™ is available in the form of the liquid concentrate can be mixed in paints in a predetermined ratio and be applied on the material which has to be protected from termites

Combirepel™ in the lacquer form can be applied topically to the applications. The lacquer is compatible with most of the surfaces like wood, concrete, metal, polymer, ceramic, cables, wires etc.

Combirepel™ in the form of the masterbatch, which can be incorporated into the polymeric applications like polymeric tree guards, pipes, wires, cables, polymeric material, instruments and equipment which we use at home.

Combirepel™ is thermally stable and does not degrade on exposure to heat and sunlight. It does not kill or harm the insect but repels them. It does not volatilize and does not degrade the soil. It is RoHS, RoHS2, RoHS3, REACH, APVMA, NEA compliant and FIFRA exempted.

Pests in Supermarkets

Supermarkets are the best place for the pests to multiply and thrive due to large stores which can stock up to thousands of products from different sources with multiple supply chains. In a supermarket, there is food handling activities like meat and fish preparation, dairy products, fresh vegetables, and fresh fruits, bakery products in addition to packaged goods. In this business, it is important to maintain the hygiene and sanitation standards to prevent pest infestation which seems to be an intimidating task. But the pest infestation in supermarkets can damage the reputation and the customer trust which directly results into financial loss. Not just this but the business can also be closed by regulatory or health authorities and can lead to a huge amount of compensation and fines from the authorities.

Let’s have a look at some of the evidence for pest nuisance in supermarkets,

Rodent droppings shut down Temple City supermarket, and other health-related food closures in the San Gabriel Valley

By Hayley Munguia

Three sections of a Temple City supermarket were shut down last week when a health inspector noticed rodent droppings throughout the building, signaling an infestation.

The excrement was found in the Metro Supermarket at 4819 Temple City Blvd., in the general facility, as well as in its meat department and in its deli. Other violations found in the supermarket were that its meat department food surfaces were not adequately sanitized; neither the meat department nor the deli had adequate temperature regulation of the food; and an employee in the deli with a communicable disease or illness had been improperly allowed to handle the food.

Rodent dropping found on floor of Iceland supermarket in Co Wexford

By Claire Gorman

Three food businesses with evidence of rodents on the premises were ordered to shut last month, it

emerged on Thursday.

Rodent droppings were discovered on the shop floor of an Iceland supermarket in Gorey Retail Park

in Co Wexford. Object 1

The enforcement order stated that there was “evidence of gnawing to the packaging of numerous

multi-pack packets of crisps on the shelving for sale in the shop floor area”.

It added: “Pieces of gnawed crisps packaging were observed amongst rodent droppings on the

shelving in the shop floor area.

“There was evidence of gnawing to numerous individual packets of crisps within multi-packs of

crisps for sale.

“Upon further examination, rodent droppings were observed within the packaging of the multipacks

of crisps and within the individual packets of crisps in the multi-packs.”

The report said the violations were a “grave and immediate danger to public health”.

A canteen run by Get Fresh Catering in Beaufort College, Navan, Co Meath was closed due to

inadequate pest controls and a “heavy mouse infestation”.

AD Cash and Carry, St James Industrial Park in Inchicore, Dublin 8 was also forced to shut due to a

“significant number of rodent droppings” found throughout the premises.

Food Safety Authority CEO Pamela Byrne warned that rodents are a huge risk to public health.

She added: “The three closure orders in November cited inadequate procedures in pest control

which resulted in evidence of rodents in all three premises.

The presence of pest can cause huge economic loss to the owner of the business, suppliers and the staff.

We, at C Tech Corporation, have thought about this problem in detail and have come up with a viable solution. The solution is named Combirepel™. We are the sole manufacturers of the product Combirepel™.

Combirepel™ works on the mechanism of repellency.

Impact of pesticide on environment

The term pesticide is not just a single term as it covers a wide range of compounds which includes insecticides, fungicides, rodenticide, herbicides etc. The pesticide must be lethal to the targeted pests and not to the non-targeted one. Since this is not the case and so the controversy of using pesticides has surfaced. The uncontrolled use of these chemicals under the proverb, “if little is good, a lot more will be better” has damage human and other life forms.

Since the production of pesticides in India started in 1952, where India is the 2nd largest manufacturer of pesticides in Asia and ranked 12th globally. The use of pesticides in India is different from the world. In India 70-76% of the pesticide which is used is an insecticide, the pesticides are mainly used for cotton crops.

Groundwater pollution is a huge problem in the world. There are 140-143 pesticides which have been found in the groundwater. There are many pesticides which are banned all over the world but are still in use.

People consider pesticides as a quick, easy and cheap solution for controlling the pest, as pesticides contaminated almost each and every part of our environment. Pesticides can be found in air, soil, groundwater almost everywhere across the countries. It poses a significant risk to the non-targeted species.

Let’s have a look at some of the evidence,

Toxic greens! Your veggies may be laced with pesticides

HYDERABAD: The next time you buy that red tomato, fresh brinjal or cauliflower, be careful! You may actually be getting home a lot more than what you had bargained for. A variety of vegetables sold in markets of Hyderabad are laced with harmful chemical pesticides and can pose serious health hazards. At times, the toxic content even exceeds maximum permissible limits.

Analysis of vegetable samples in the last one year by the National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM), Hyderabad, revealed that many samples contained residues of about two dozen pesticides. NIPHM collects vegetables from markets and farm gates in the city every month to detect the presence of pesticides, if any.

City doctors warned that consumption of vegetables laced with pesticide residue, even within permissible levels, may lead to severe health issues, which includes damage to the kidneys and brain. Human body tends to accumulate pesticides and when it crosses the tolerance limit, severe health problems surface.

A study of the NIPHM monthly reports for 2018 reveals the presence of many toxins in vegetables such as tomato, brinjal, cabbage, okra, green chilli, French beans, coccinea, bottle gourd and cauliflower. Some of the chemicals are not recommended, which means they are not meant for human consumption or spraying on vegetables.

Couple lose 3 children to insecticide poisoning

Tragedy hit a young couple in Accra when they lost their three children to death through insecticide poisoning.

The children, nine-month-old twin girls and their two-year-old brother, died at Abavana Down, a suburb of Accra, last Friday night.

They had ingested a deadly substance called organo-phosphate found in a product called Topstoxin, a fumigation tablet for the control of insects in stored grain, processed food and feeds, and neighbours rushed them and their parents to the 37 Military Hospital for medical care.

The substance, also known as AlP, is used as a rodenticide and insecticide and a fumigant for stored cereal grains.

Experts say it is used to kill small verminous mammals such as moles and rodents.

The incident occurred after one of the parents had sprayed their home with the poisonous substance to get rid of cockroaches.

According to hospital sources, the mother of the deceased children dissolved some of the tablets and sprayed it indoors to kill cockroaches, bed bugs and ants.

Sources told the Daily Graphic that the bereaved parents purchased the poisonous substance based on recommendations by a friend after they had unsuccessfully tried to get rid of the insects with regular sprays.

Bedbugs- an unwelcomed air passenger

Description: C:\Users\TEN\Desktop\bedbug 1.jpg

We heard a number of times that there is bedbug infestation in house, hotels, ships, railways, etc.  But bedbugs in flights occurred recently- surprised! But it’s true that the bedbugs have been reported in planes and they are flying in first class.

One more new thing that we need to worry about while traveling in the plane & i.e. bedbugs proved that humans cannot defeat them in the sky as well. Bedbug on airplanes doesn’t get the same media attention as bedbugs in hotels, hospitals, and railways.

It’s not just a plane you have to worry about, bedbugs found in every transport system nowadays. Whenever you are traveling to the plane and spot a bedbug around you, give an instant alert to flight attendants so that they could take possible action against bedbugs. Passengers make sure that they should not bring bedbugs to their homes as it may be a great threat to their homes.

Bedbugs can make their own way by scrawling one passenger luggage to others. Then bedbugs slowly scrawl out and hide in the corners of the seat and enjoy a free inflight meal of your sweet blood in the air. So before seating to plane a proper visual inspection must be done and if you find tiny red and a black spot at seat be sure of bedbug waiting to welcome you on board.

Here are some news articles reported for bedbugs’ infestation in the plane.

Shocking: Air Transat Flight Evacuated As Insects Fall From Above

By Joanna Bailey June 28, 2019

An Air Transat plane had to cancel its journey between London and Vancouver due to an insect infestation. Passengers reported bugs an inch long were falling from overhead lockers as they prepared to take off. As a result, the trip was delayed 24 hours so that the aircraft could be fumigated.

Passengers on an Air Transat flight screamed in terror! Photo: Air Transat

Passengers were apparently left ‘screaming in terror’ on an Air Transat flight from Gatwick this week, as cockroach like bugs tumbled onto their heads. Apparently falling from overhead lockers, the ‘brown beetles with wings’ were seen scurrying along the aisle as flight attendants attempted to squash them.

What happened?

Air Transat flight TS177 was due to depart from London Gatwick on Wednesday 26th June, heading to Vancouver in Canada. Passengers boarded the Airbus A330, registered C-GGTS, on time and were taking their seats when bugs began falling from overhead lockers onto their heads and laps. A passenger, Jenna Sullivan, told the Mail about her experience

Airplane crew refused to fly due to bedbug infestation

British Airways had to ground a jet after the cabin crew refused to fly on it due to a bedbug infestation.

They walked out minutes before take-off and were beyond their working hours when a replacement plane was found.

The flight to Ghana eventually left Heathrow four hours late.

It is the latest bedbug embarrassment to hit BA in recent months — amid protests that cheap cleaning contractors are not doing a proper job preparing jets for flights.

BA has been battling to restore its reputation after being accused of poor customer service and cutting perks.

A BA source said: “The cabin crew saw bedbugs crawling over the seats — visible to the naked eye.

“They said it was unacceptable to work on that aircraft.”

The Sun can also reveal crew frequently complain of bedbugs on the route to Las Vegas.

BA said it immediately took its jet out of service once the problem was raised.

Bedbug- a threat to human life

Description: Image result for bedbugs

Bedbugs are small, oval, brownish insects that live on the blood of the animals and humans usually at night. Adult bedbugs have flat bodies and have the size of an apple seed. After feeding their bodies swell and are a reddish color. Bedbugs don’t fly but move instantly over floor and walls. Female bedbugs lay hundreds of eggs size of a speck of dust over a lifetime.

Immature or undeveloped bedbugs shed skin five times before reaching the maturity and required a feed as blood before shedding. Under favorable conditions, they can develop in a month and produce three or more generations every year. Bedbugs are mainly active at night and bite humans when they are sleeping. They feed blood through their elongated beak and generally feed blood 3-10 minutes and crawl away.

Description: Image result for bed bug bites to humans

Sometimes bites of bedbugs are painless at first but later on, leads to itchy sensation. Flea bites generally around ankles and bedbugs are anywhere on exposed skin and their bites have red spots, unlike flea bites, do.

Infestation sign

Once you wake up with itchy sensation in the skin then it may be bedbugs in your bed, and in used furniture around when it bites. Other signs are,

  • Bloodstains on pillows or even on bedsheets.
  • The dark spot of bedbugs on bed sheets and mattresses and even on walls.
  • Their a fecal spot, eggshell and shed skins in areas where bedbugs hide.
  • A bad odor or unpleasant smell from the bedbug’s scent gland.

Bedbugs can attach to clothing so always check the area around the bed like an inside bookshelf, books, electronic devices, carpet even closet as well.

Bedbugs have been found at Penn Middle School in the Penn-Trafford School District.

District officials alerted parents Wednesday that a student was found with bedbugs on their body. No additional bugs were found in the student’s belongings.

When a professional exterminator and the district’s maintenance director began searching classrooms frequented by the student, no additional evidence of an infestation was found.

District officials said the exterminator will install monitoring traps, and if there are any signs of an infestation, the district will move toward a large-scale eradication.

“We will be monitoring this situation closely and consulting with the Department of Health,” Penn Middle Principal Jim Simpson said a news release.

Bedbugs feed on human blood, and are usually active at night when people are sleeping. Adults have flat, rusty red-colored bodies that swell and become brighter red when they feed. They are about the size of an apple seed.

Their presence is not associated with the cleanliness of a particular location, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Bites from a bedbug are initially painless but turn to large, itchy welts after a day or so. Their presence can also be detected through the rusty red, blood-filled fecal matter they excrete on mattresses or other furniture.

Federal workers back in office after bed bug infestation
Description: bed bugs

Published: Tuesday, October 15, 2019

OTTAWA – Federal workers who had been forced to work from home after a bed bug infestation were mostly back in the office Tuesday.

Last week, hundreds of employees stayed out of the building on Cremazie in Gatineau because of the infestation. They work for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

On Tuesday the union representing the workers emailed CTV News saying that all workers were back at their work stations after the bed bug treatments.

Workers on the third floor were delayed by a couple of hours on tuesday. That floor was the last to be treated for bed bugs.

The union also said the IRCC will be testing the building regularly and checking for bed bugs in other buildings it operates.

The union says it is also offering tips to employees on how to stop the spread of bed bugs at work and in their homes.

Power outage by squirrel leads to massive loss

If your power has gone out on a beautiful day, you may have been a victim of rodent attacks.  Most of the time squirrels are responsible for an impressive number of electric issues each year. The electrical disruption caused by a squirrel and other rodents is common and widespread. Squirrels are among the top responsible for power outages across the US and other countries in the world.

Squirrel, rat, and birds are mainly responsible for power outages across the world and affect millions of people. Power outages in the defense sector lead to huge losses to the nation and its security. Researchers are searching for a permanent solution to set out these issues.

POWER RESTORED TO CUSTOMERS AFTER SQUIRREL CAUSES FIRE AT KETTERING DP&L SUBSTATION

By Jeremy P. Kelley November 04, 2019

KETTERING — a squirrel that caused damage to equipment was blamed for a fire at a DP&L substation in Kettering that initially knocked out power to nearly 23,000 people, according to a DP&L spokesperson.

The fire was first reported at the substation on East Dorothy Lane west of Wilmington Pike in Kettering around 7:40 a.m. Monday.

As of 10:35 a.m., the only school without power was Orchard Park Elementary, which is located just a few hundred yards down the street from the substation where the fire broke out, according to Kettering schools spokeswoman Kari Basson.

Power had returned to Van Buren Middle School, Fairmont High School, and Oak view Elementary by 10:30 a.m. previously, power was restored to Beaver town Elementary and the district’s central offices and bus garage before 9 a.m.

SQUIRREL CAUSES FIRE AT SUBSTATION, LEAVING THOUSANDS WITHOUT POWER

By Wayne Baker, Nov 05, 2019

KETTERING —

A squirrel caused a fire at a DP&L substation Monday, knocking out power for more than 20,000 commercial and residential customers in Kettering and Oakwood at the peak of the outage.

The fire was first reported at the substation on East Dorothy Lane west of Wilmington Pike in Kettering around 7:40 a.m. Monday, by 11:15 a.m. power, was restored to customers. Firefighters reported the fire was under control around 8:30 a.m. and said they allowed the fire to burn itself out. DP&L spokeswoman Mary Ann Kabel addressed the power outage late Monday morning at the Salvation Army’s Kroc Center, during a press conference to announce a financial gift to the non-profit to help those in need as cold weather sets in. “We found out that the issue was a squirrel that came into a substation,” she confirmed to reporters. She said the company has safeguards in place and plans for animals that attempt to do what the squirrel accomplished. “We put in protection and we account for potential animals,” Kabel said. “But just like your home, they tend to find ways in to homes and substations, and that was the case this morning. The squirrel tripped one of our switching gears, which caused a fire.” She said the fire took down power to around 10,000 customers, but for safety precautions, power was cut off to an additional 10,000 or so customers. “We had to take down another 10,000 to mitigate the situation and cooperate with the fire department to resolve the fire at hand,” Kabel explained. “The customers who were out where primarily in Kettering with a little bit of Oakwood.” More than a dozen DP&L trucks were on scene to investigate the substation fire when it started and to make repairs shortly after the fire was brought under control. Oakwood and Kettering schools decided to keep classes as scheduled for the day, despite the outages in parts of both cities. As power was restored to many customers shortly after 10:30 a.m.

Bed bugs-every home owner’s nightmare

A general plot of all scary movies is that there are creatures that live with us and we cannot see them, but we can feel them. What if we told you that this happens in real life too? Before you think that we are going to tell you something far-fetched let us assure you that we are not. We are talking about bedbugs! These tiny bloodsucking creatures are more dangerous than you think. You might know them as the irritating pests that are hard to get rid of but they are capable of much more.

If a bed bug bites then usually the bites can result in a number of health effects including skin rashes, psychological effects, and allergic symptoms. Besides this, in some cases, there can be an occurrence of prominent blisters and fever. And while bed bugs inherently cannot give you diseases the itching can lead to excessive scratching that can sometimes increase the chance of a secondary skin infection.

Given below are pieces of evidence from news articles which on reading you will realize that bedbugs can occur anywhere, even in your city.

Philadelphia ranks No. 1 on list of cities most infested by bed bugs

BY VIRGINIA STREVA

PhillyVoice Staff

JUNE 05, 2019

Philadelphia hadn’t been the No. 1 most bed-bug-ridden city since 2014, but it has reclaimed the top spot for 2019. The City of Brotherly Love had dropped as low as No. 10 in 2017 before climbing back to No. 2 spot in 2018. Cleveland, Ohio, held the top spot in 2018 and 2017.

Terminix reports 22% of Americans have experienced bed bug problems, and for those with children, the percentage rises to 35%.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency classifies bed bugs as “public health pests,” and a 2014 study by Penn Medicine found they can transmit the parasite that causes Chagas disease through their bites. In 2002 they were added to the EPA’s “Lists of Pests of Significant Public Health Importance,” joining other pests and vermin, like lice, cockroaches, mice, and mosquitoes.

Bed bug survey: Los Angeles ranks 6th nationwide in infestations

By ABC7.com staff

If you live in Los Angeles, the latest survey of cities with the worst bed-bug infestations won’t be much comfort.

The City of Angels ranks sixth in the nation among cities with the worst bed-bug problems.

Topping the list was Philadelphia, followed by New York, Dallas-Fort Worth, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati. The survey was based on the number of service calls the national pest-control firm handles at its various metropolitan branches.

And here is the list of the top 50 bedbug infested states in the US.

Have these articles got you thinking about your bedbug problems or the fact that you might have them in the future? Then we have an excellent solution for you.

Mothballs are not just ineffective but also illegal

Mothballs have been used as a traditional way to ward off any rodents but are they really effective? They are largely ineffective and they definitely are not good for health. In fact, they are carcinogenic. Manufacturer’s instructions regularly warn against using mothballs for any purpose other than those specified by the packaging, as such uses are not only harmful and noxious, they are also frequently considered illegal. They are a nuisance to mainly humans as they can lead to anemia, cataracts in not only humans but also rats, rabbits, and mice. They can even lead to retinal hemorrhage. Don’t believe us? Given below is evidence which has been taken from a new article published by The Lewiston Tribune.

THE USE OF MOTHBALLS TO WARD OFF RODENTS FROM CARS PARKED AT CORN CREEK BOAT LAUNCH MAY BE EFFECTIVE, BUT IT’S STILL ILLEGAL.

Sun., May 19, 2019, By Eric Barker

LEWISTON – A clever hack being used by river runners to protect their cars at the Corn Creek Boat Launch on the upper Salmon River has drawn the ire of officials on the Salmon-Challis National Forest.

According to a news release from the agency, some rafters and kayakers who leave their vehicles parked at the boat ramp while floating the river place mothballs under their rigs. The idea is to deter mice and other rodents from climbing into the engine compartment and causing havoc.

The mothballs deployed by river runners at Corn Creek are meant to deter the messy and destructive mice, marmots, rats, and other rodents. But the balls Grandma used to keep moths from chowing on wool garments are also considered a pesticide. It’s illegal for people to apply such chemicals, even in the form of mothballs, on federal land.

Salmon-Challis National Forest spokeswoman Amy Baumer said some agency workers have even become sick from constantly breathing mothball fumes at Corn Creek.

Rodents sometimes enter the dark nooks and crannies of parked car and truck engine compartments to build nests. The rodents generally make a mess when they do this, but they can also do costly damage with their teeth. Rodents sometimes like to chew on rubber, damaging fan and engine belts or the sheathing that covers electrical wires.

Even worse, some late-model cars have wires with sheaths that are soy-based and apparently irresistible to vermin. When they chew on the apparently delicious and environmentally friendly wires, they can destroy the wire harnesses, short electrical systems and causes tens of thousands of dollars of damage.

The mothball deployment tactic seems to be limited to just Corn Creek.

The U.S. Forest Service news release said the use of mothballs is a violation of 36CFR, which bans the use of any pesticide aside from insect repellent. It quotes the National Pesticide Information Center as saying, “Mothballs are nearly 100 percent active ingredient, and the active ingredient may be either naphthalene or paradichlorobenzene. Each active ingredient can cause different health effects if the exposure is high enough. Mothballs slowly turn from solids to toxic vapor. When you smell mothballs, you are inhaling the insecticide. Mothballs can also be dangerous if they are chewed or swallowed. Children, pets and wildlife may mistake them for food or candy and eat them. One mothball can cause serious harm if eaten by a small child.”

Baumer said, for now, Forest Service law enforcement agents aren’t writing tickets to mothball rodent warriors and instead are choosing to inform them of the dangers.

“We are just trying to get the word out and get people educated,” she said.

So what can we do to take care of this? If the traditional methods have stopped working then what can we use?

We, at   C Tech Corporation, can provide you with an effective solution. Our product   CombirepelTM is developed by using green technology. It is extremely low toxic, low hazard, low concern, and non-mutagenic animal aversive. It is durable at extreme climatic conditions.

Coffee Frappuccino with Rats

What is rat’s favorite coffee? They might be a fan of the mocha iced Frappuccino or they might like espresso. Well unlike us it’s not the coffee that attracts the rats but it’s the warm temperature, shelter, and safety to multiply and thrive.

Rats love to set up a camp inside the café because they get protected from the rain and other harsh weather conditions and continuous source of food that’s easy to find.

There are many coffee lovers who spend most of their time in the café, it’s the best and the perfect place to have coffee and have meetings. When you are in stress then just one cup of coffee makes you relax. Coffee is the lifeblood of virtually every workforce in the world.

In our generation today, more people love to spend their time in a café to relax, unwind, enjoy, and a lot more reasons. Hence, we cannot deny the fact that all people eat and drink, as these two are needed in order to sustain life.

Pests are carriers of food-borne diseases. Pest poses a particular threat to hygiene standards in food preparation and storage areas because of their disease risk and the contamination they cause.

Cafés are the one where the pest can easily get attracted. Every café has the potential to attract pest. Although the bad publicity from a roach infestation could easily be enough to shut down a café for good.

Let us have a look at some of the evidence,

Starbucks fined £12,000 for mice infestation in cafe visited by Blair

Coffee giant Starbucks was fined £12,000 after one of its cafes, once visited by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, was infested with mice.

An environment health officer with 17 years’ experience was hit by a “strong smell of mice” and recurring scenes of filth and mice droppings and staining’s during an inspection at a Starbucks in the heart of London’s West End in November last year.

Mouse droppings were found next to spoons, knives, cups, Clingfilm and boxes of biscuits and coffee that were about to be used, London’s City of Westminster magistrates heard.

Westminster Council decided to prosecute after the state of two storerooms and a serving area at the Villiers Street cafe in the arches of Charing Cross station raised alarm.

One mousetrap in a storeroom “appeared to be weighty and may have had a mouse in it” and the rodent had left “greasy smears”, Felicia Davy for Westminster Council told the court.

Starbucks, which has more than 530 stores and 8,000 partners in the UK, pleaded guilty to four counts of food safety and hygiene breaches.

Rodent droppings, improper temperatures result in state closing Urban Cafe

Urban Cafe in Wilmington was temporarily closed by the health department after an inspector found rodent droppings throughout the eatery and several foods at an improper temperature, including eggs, cheese and butter.

Tea plantation under threat!

Tea is the most popular and celebrated beverage which has been enjoyed throughout the ages.

Around all over the world, there are 2 billion people who drink tea every morning. 3 billion tons of tea is produced worldwide every year for consumption. India is the world’s largest consumer of tea where it consumes 837,000 tonnes of it every year.

In India , there are around 300 species of insects which results in 11 to 55% annual loss in yield. The tea plant is colonized with insects like the bug, thrips, termites, caterpillar, green leafhopper etc.

The current trend of over-reliance on the use of synthetic pesticides in tea crop protection programs around North-East India has resulted in disturbances to the environment, pest resurgence, variation in susceptibility, residue problems in made tea, impedance for natural regulatory agents and lethal and sub lethal effects on non-target organisms, including humans.

These side effects have raised public concern about the use of pesticides. In recent years, the use of pesticides has become a major concern to the tea industry as the countries who are importing are imposing strict restrictions for acceptability of the tea due to pesticide residues.

The infestation occurs when the insects began with eating young leaves of tea, they also damage the entire bushes by completely stripping off the leaves. The field mouse is the common pest in the tea plantation. Tea plantations provide good hiding places to rodents.

The effective control of pests on tea is crucial to make sure of the marketability of this crop. If tea contains residues in excess amount; it will not only affect the export of Indian tea but also will reduce domestic consumption.

An increase of pests has decreased the yield and the quality of Assam tea, while a consequent increase in the use of pesticides has raised the plantation costs as well as a threat to the environment. Under such circumstances, tea has become an expensive crop for a large-scale manufacturer.

Let’s have a look at the evidence,

Arunachal: Mealy bug attack hits tea farmers hard in Siang valley

Tea planters in Siang Valley including East Siang, Lower Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh and bordering Jonai (Assam), who are already bracing for low production owing to lack of rainfall during summer season this year, have now been hit by mosquito bug menace.

A mosquito-like insect Helopeltis (Helopeltis theivora) commonly known as ‘mealy bug’ has created havoc in gardens along Assam-Arunachal boundary areas since October this year. Tea planters fear that if the pest attack is not controlled, it will severely affect the quantity and quality of production of the region.

Helopeltis infestation has been reported from tea gardens at Oyan, Kemi-Jelom, Ruksin, Nari- Seren, Telam and Dekapam areas along boundary area, which incurred huge losses for tea farmers of the region. Unabated bug infestation has compelled many tea farmers to adopt early ‘pruning’ of tea bushes to get rid of the problem.

We at C Tech Corporation have a unique, effective, and efficient way to tackle these nuisances.

The unique product CombirepelTM manufactured by C Tech Corporation is an insect, animal, and bird aversive which repels the pests.

CombirepelTM works on the mechanism of repellency. It is an extremely low concern, low toxic, low hazard, non-carcinogenic and non-mutagenic pest aversive. It does not kill or cause harm to the pests as well as to the environment which indirectly helps to maintain the ecological balance.

CombirepelTM is available in the form of the masterbatch, which can be incorporated into the polymeric applications like pipes, agriculture mulch films, floating row covers, greenhouse films etc. used for crop cultivation purpose. etc.

The product available in the form of liquid concentrate can be mixed in paints in a predetermined ratio and be applied to the fences in the garden and farms to keep the pests away from these places.

Our product in the lacquer form can be applied topically on the applications. The lacquer is compatible with most of the surfaces like wood, concrete, metal, polymer, ceramic, etc. The lacquer can be applied on the already installed pipes in the fields or garden, fences around farms and garden, walls of the warehouses where the agricultural products are stored, thus protecting it from damage.

Our newly developed product in the form of a spray can be sprayed anywhere to repel the pests. The product is compatible with all types of surfaces and can be used by anyone. The CombirepelTM pest repellent spray is safe to use.
